Instructional Design Portfolio

I craft innovative eLearning experiences that offer solutions to real-world problems.

Personal Statement

Hi! I’m Ashley Frye, an instructional designer who believes that the most powerful learning experiences happen when education meets authentic human connection. My unique journey from professional cycling to community building to social media strategy to instructional design has taught me that whether you're an elite athlete, creating marketing campaigns, fostering inclusive running communities, or designing learning solutions, success comes from understanding your audience deeply and creating experiences that genuinely serve their needs.

With a Master’s in Instructional Design and experience at EduThemes as an instructional design intern, I specialize in creating learner-centered solutions that address real-world challenges. My recent formative evaluation project, "Reducing Teacher Burnout Through AI Integration," exemplifies my approach: I conducted comprehensive mixed-methods research with 37 educators to validate and optimize an instructional solution addressing one of education's most critical issues. This work demonstrates my ability to translate complex user needs into actionable design recommendations that can transform adoption rates from 45% to 80%+.

My professional experience as Social Media Specialist at Skratch Labs has sharpened essential instructional design competencies that many traditional programs overlook. Managing content strategy for a performance nutrition brand has taught me to distill complex information into engaging, actionable formats for diverse audiences—from elite athletes to weekend warriors. Creating educational content about sports nutrition requires the same audience analysis, learning objective alignment, and assessment strategies that drive effective instructional design. Additionally, building and nurturing online communities of thousands has given me deep insight into learner motivation, engagement strategies, and the social dynamics that make learning stick.

My background as founder of 4the Girls Jog Club, Colorado's largest women's running community, reveals my commitment to inclusive, empowering learning environments. This experience in managing partnerships with brands like ASICS, Lululemon, FP Movement, and Strava, while coordinating educational events, has developed my project management skills, stakeholder collaboration abilities, and understanding of how to scale learning experiences across diverse populations.

What sets me apart is my integration of athletic resilience, community building expertise, and data-driven design thinking. My professional cycling career taught me that peak performance requires continuous iteration and feedback—principles I apply to instructional design through formative evaluation and user-centered optimization. I bring a collaborative, results-oriented approach that transforms learning challenges into opportunities for meaningful growth and impact.

I am seeking instructional design opportunities where I can leverage my unique combination of research skills, community building experience, and authentic passion for creating learning experiences that genuinely improve people's lives. Whether designing corporate training, educational technology, or community-based learning initiatives, I am committed to solutions that prioritize learner needs, measurable outcomes, and sustainable engagement.

Helping bring your content to life through fresh, creative, and innovative solutions.
